FAQs

I’ve compiled a list of the most frequent questions that I have received over my career. It’s normal and encouraged for clients to ask many questions when choosing to work with a licensed Psychotherapist. Here are some answers to the questions I receive the most. If you can’t find what you are looking for, please get in touch.

WHAT IS THE COST FOR SESSIONS?

  • First session (intake session) is $215 based on up to 90 minutes for this session.

  • Subsequent sessions for individuals are $165 each and are 50 minutes in length.

  • Family and/or couple sessions are $185 and are 50 minutes in length.

  • Psychotherapy is billed in 15-minute increments based on the $165 per-hour rate.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL?

If you need to cancel your session please call 24 hours in advance so that I can alter my schedule and accommodate other clients. If you cancel in less than 24 hours or do not show up you will be billed a $85 late cancellation/no-show fee. In terms of inclement weather, your safety is important to me and I ask that you do not travel if you don’t feel safe. We can switch your appointment to a virtual appointment in situations like this just call ahead to discuss.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

A typical therapy session is 50 minutes in length. There are times when it may be beneficial to do 90-minute sessions, which would be discussed together to determine if that is beneficial to your treatment. Group sessions are 75-90 minutes long.

DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?

Therapy is an important investment in your life to become the best you possible. While this is one of the best investments you can make there are times that the cost of therapy may be an issue. If that is the case please reach out to discuss a possible fee reduction.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

I am currently in a few insurance networks, but it is always best to call your insurance company to ask if I am in network. Policies are always changing and mental health coverage varies which each employer. I am also in a few EAP (Employee Assistant Programs) so check with your employer to see if you have that benefit and I can let you know if I am in that plan. If I am not in your network I am able to provide monthly or as needed receipts for submission to your insurance company. If you have out of network benefits and have met your deductible, you may be eligible for some reimbursement. Clients usually get reimbursed anyone from 50%-90%. Contact your insurance company to research this further.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE AN EMERGENCY?

If you should have a mental health or substance use emergency go to your local emergency room or call 911. If you are feeling suicidal call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 988 or 1-800-273-TALK(8255).

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS?

You can pay using cash, check, paypal or venmo. Payment is due each session. There is a $35.00 charge for returned checks.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional question or are ready to get started with therapy.

What is a Good Faith Estimate and how can I receive one?

A Good Faith Estimate of expected charges provides you with an estimate for the cost of your services with Healing Concepts LLC. This estimate is based on your individual needs for services and the rate at which you pay for services. It is offered to help you understand how much you will be financially investing in services with us and so that there will be no surprises when you are billed for these services.

Under the law we, as health care providers, are required to give clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

Our Good Faith Estimate form is included within the initial intake packet sent to clients who are planning to engage in services with us. You can also ask us for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service with us and at any time throughout your treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
